Studio5000 v31+ Error/Warning Window

Is it just me or is the error/warning in the newer versions of Studio5000 absolutely infuriating?

I maintain an error and warning free program, I don’t want to see that window unless there is something that needs attention and only when I ask. I hit verify, for example, to see if there is anything I need to deal with, the window pops up only to tell me there are no warnings or errors. Now I have to close it in order to get my full screen again (or click somewhere else). Annoying.

I hit CTRL+S, the stupid window pops up to tell me there are no warnings and no errors, I have to click somewhere to get it to close.

I like to type my rungs out. I’ll type out a few instructions, then fill the tags in. So XIC XIC XIC OTE ENTER. That stupid window has to pop up. “hey man, in case you didn’t notice, you have errors”. I KNOW, I JUST TYPED THAT A NANOSECOND AGO!

For crying out loud Rockwell, if the panel has nothing useful to say, stay out of my face!! When I want to know if there are errors or warnings, I’ll hit the verify button.

The only thing that might be more annoying is if I fat finger a tag name and it decides to make my life slightly worse by adding quotes around the whole thing. Now not only do I have to fix the odd character I accidentally added to the tag, but I have to remove the ““ at the beginning and end. Someone actually took the time to code this into the software, on purpose.

Happy new year!

I agree, I thought I was the only one who was drove crazy from this. I usually just drag it to the smallest size. There is no way to hide it and it wastes so much time when building a large program with lots of copy paste going on.

Especially with the new HTML AOP property pages, it is becoming apparent that no one at RA doing development is using the products.

Have 2 monitors? Or more?

Click the Maximize icon in the upper right to un-maximize the error window. Then you can drag it to another monitor and it won’t block your ladder window and you can ignore it unless you WANT to check it.

You can also drag the Controller Organizer window to have a full-screen ladder window.

I do this in Visual Studio, and really wish RSLogix 500 did it.

EDIT: You can also go to Options and turn off Auto-Verify so it doesn’t try to verify each rung after each edit, then you have to press Verify.

My biggest peeve lately with Studio 5k is the comment editor popping up at the top and shifting the rungs down. If I am editing descriptions of addresses in a simple discrete ladder diagram, I have a hard time keeping my place with the logic bounding up and down. I have not found a way to “undock it”. I wish it was like RSLogix5/500 with a little pop-up for address comments.
