Olympics anyone?

Anyone watching the games, girls hockey was great, I like the biathlon

TV coverage is absolutely terrible

My opinion of television is emphasized by my actions.

The televisions in my home office and bedroom don’t have antenna’s connected to them, also are only connected to my WiFi when I want to connect for something. Bedroom has a Blueray player, media player and Comcast streaming box I rarely turn on either.

My living room TV has never had the channels scanned and also it has a Blueray player and it’s WiFi is disabled with the Ethernet cable only plugged into the network router when I want to watch something, and don’t subscribe to the local channels package. No cable box in my house either.

I can actually state I have not watched broadcast television in over 12 years. Fark.com is a better source of news that what I used to see on the TV.

I’ve mostly been watching Hockey, though I’ll have other events on. I watched some Curling (I heard I missed some drama). I watched some Skeleton and some bobsled.

Have not watched.

Never was a Winter Olymics fan.

Guess, because I grew up in a warm, Southern State.

Ahh, bobsleds.

When I was a kid I always watched he bobsleds and planned on buying a house with enough land to have my own bobsled track - or 2. With a system to ride the bobsled back up to the top instead of dragging it uphill half a mile.

Plus here in Detroit channel 9 from across the river in Canada had curling on every week I used to watch.

Now the Olympics seem more hype and political than the sports [not to mention the very obviously pre-decided politically motivated judging (“We didn’t see the Canadian cheating - and we don’t use video replay in curling so shut up” ) ]

Skeleton is nuts, that speed with nothing around

Just about every sport cheats in some fashion… the winner does not get caught but finds a way to be better than the competition, its a search for the edge

I always wanted to be a Olympiad just so I could turn to the crowd and shout “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED”

I agree biathlon is great, all the alpine events were amazing, and all the sledding events. Our son said mountaineering is hilarious, but I have not watched it yet. Curling is cool; I went to uni in upstate NY so we saw a lot of that on cable.

We got Peacock for the Super Bowl and it has been pretty good for the Olympics; it’s nice to be able to pick an event.

I find the obsession with figure skating annoying, but it must bring in the advertising dollars, so that’s what I get for not being a normie. I don’t mind watching the skating, they are amazing, although as a judged sport it is not as interesting as a timed or otherwise objectively measured event. I remember one year (Nagano?) they would broadcast even the skaters warming up in the practice rink. What was great in Nagano was the late-night broadcast crew, who came on from 11am or midnight, after prime time, for the east coast. They had an MC who was really cool, and you could tell the entire team was having fun.

oh yeah, the short track skating is great, so chaotic, like watching demolition derby or figure 8 racing.

Mass Start Speed Skate, watched it today…. really cool, I like bike racing and there is a lot of thought that has to go into it not just go as fast as you can, drafting or someone can run away with it

Men’s hockey final is at 5:10 AM my time zone tomorrow, bummer. I get up at that time during the week, not on the weekends.

When I worked in a stamping plant in the 90’s I had to be at work by 5AM and could NOT sleep in on days off, plus woke up a few minutes before the alarm every morning - I was UP!

But at least a couple of hours later I could go back to sleep for a few more hours. Plus, I’m not a morning person and before that job I could wake at noon and stay up until 6AM scrolling Compu-Serve.

When I was in the Navy, in Subic Bay, PI. Superbowl started at 7am, not easy drinking beer that early, but we persevered.

Wow… I recorded it, what a game!

You mean they didn’t tape delay it for you guys (and to give the guy in the radio room the benefit of watching it live and knowing who to bet on before everyone else watched?)

Watched live at the EM club, on Monday Morning. I think the PI is 14-15 hours ahead of USA.

Next winter games is on the other side of the mountains so should be the same time I think in France

My money is on Norway smoking everyone again, they looked really strong

I would go to the summer games in LA but I hate southern California and the traffic is going to be STUPID bad, looking forward to watching Snoop Dogg
