Hello. Was told to join this group by bob o. Im currently an electrical technician on maintenance and going to school in Omaha. I’m wanting to learn more and get into programming plcs but I need a laptop but want to get one that’s gonna work for what I need. Also not trying to break the bank I just don’t want to get something and it be the wrong setup. and I realize you pay for what you get but if someone could point me in the right direction I’d greatly appreciate it.
Ebay is your friend… I just bought below for 140.00, its perfect for programming, then choose a PLC that you want to program, there are several that offer free software
Dell Precision 7510 i7-6820HQ 2.70GHz 32GB 256GB nVidia Quadro M1000M Win 11 Pro
Yeah you don’t have to spend a lot, the software we use isn’t resource hungry. The main thing I’m interested in is can I upgrade the RAM and disk drive, many budget machines have the ram built into the mother board. If I can upgrade the RAM myself, I won’t spring for more RAM from the manufacturer, I’ll buy it myself. It’s usually cheaper to do yourself.

Is an online PLC simulator, that is modeled on the Rockwell Studio 5000 platform. It is free, and has problems that you can solve and slowly advance your skills.
I started out as an Electrician back in the day, and it served me well over the years. As for a laptop, I went the gamer laptop route since I was also going to use it for CAD as well. Heavy beast.
