How, Amazon? How?

Being a sole proprietor running my own business I once in a while buy something from Amazon, and quite a bit on eBay when used or generic parts are allowed. I have an Amazon business account using a business email.

I have NEVER used my personal email for any business, PLC, controls or such use - whether for quoting, proposals, purchasing, marketing, or anything. Companies I have done work for all have a business email, again I never used my personal email for business use - even small side jobs.

I have never even sent any resume out to any company, since I don’t really want to be an employee again. I do have a resume ready to send if I ever do, but it has a burner email, not my personal.

I started getting emails from Amazon on my personal email saying their Brownstown, MI distribution center (not too far away) needs a PLC programmer with my skills - and went into specific PLC’s and skills I have and things I have done they want. They knew things I have done in upgrades and designing controls.

How did Amazon tie me and my profession to my personal email? And, my name and address along with my personal email - so far no phone calls thankfully (unless it’s one of the “Potential Scam” calls that pop up)

P.S. - If I ever do decide to hire in somewhere I can guarantee it won’t be Amazon (or Ford)

They (big brother) are watching and listening… building this great AI/database about everyone, unless you are completely off grid they are mixing and matching everything because THEY (fill in “they" with what you want) know better than you and you need them just to survive (sarcasm)

I was driving my car home and talking to my wife on the phone about 3 months ago and asked her if she wanted Taco Bell for lunch… about 30 sec later looked at my display and it said “Taco Bell 5 miles on the right”

I dont have Alexa and anything like that and definitely nothing enabled on my phone or car

Exactly… we need to all (all 40 of us) need to group together and form a union, we will call it “PLC Union” and unite our powers and toss out our PCs and unplug from this world…. Not sure how we are going to make a living or have our union meetings, guess I have not thought that one thru yet, but unite my brothers!

Not to derail the topic but hope everyone had a great holiday!

You might not but the car maker does.

Android Auto and Apple’s phone connect lets the car dig into your phone, copy all of your contacts, text messages and call history and send them to the manufacturer. Someone sued Honda for it and the court said they could.

Also, even with the Facebook app closed, the app not having background use permission or microphone permission, and your phone locked if you say you need anything the next time you open Facebook there will be ads for that item.

I have Android Auto disable on my phone and if I get in a new car with it the screen will still pop up to connect to it.

I have 2 smart TV’s and unless I want to stream something online they are not connected to my network. LG, Samsung, Amazon FireTV, and others are now in a multi-state lawsuit about it.

Something needs to be done to start taking down these marketing companies.
