Who here (of the 5 of us ) uses CF+? Sanity check. A few months ago, it stopped working for me. Couldn’t connect to RA servers and it refused to check the local machine for firmware files. The knowledgebase had an alert about the issue and said “some features are not available”. What I think them meant was “all features not available”.
Can anyone use CF+ v6 successfully with firmware files on your local machine? I had to downgrade to v5.
I tried to use it offline 3-4 weeks ago and it wasn’t working, but the majority of the firmware I’ve been flashing recently have been Stratix switches which you can just do through the web interface or over TFTP. So I haven’t really looked into it too deeply, nor do I know if they have fixed the issue. I think the last time I logged on to the knowledge base a couple of weeks ago there was still a big banner about the CF+ 6 not fully working.
2 things are surprising to me. The duration of the outage and not many people posting about it. Usually when things like this happen, you see a lot of “my CF+ isn’t working” type posts. There have been almost nothing posted.
Yeah, it’s a pretty big bug to be honest, I would say 80+% of the sites I visit where I might need to upgrade firmware I wouldn’t have internet access. I also can’t imagine it’s that complicated of a bug for Rockwell to fix. I don’t know how often people are upgrading firmware. As an SI, we only typically do it at a customer site if we have a specific reason for it, like there is some sort of bug or instability that we are trying to work around. Sometimes we might upgrade processors, and we would probably update the firmware on that when setting it up out of the box, but I would usually do that in the office where I would have internet access.
I’ve used it four times without issue in the past couple of months to load version 32 firmware on 5069 controllers. Probably because I already had the firmware on my machine?
I have version 6.00.00 with AB_CIP driver version 22.00.00 “A-B ASA NVS Protocol”
I do have firmware on my machine. The way it acted is that it could not reach rockwell servers so it gave up and didn’t even check for local firmware. I can even go to manage firmware and browse to the directory with all of the local firmware. When it came time to flash, it would report no firmware to flash.
Works fine with v5. I should make a video to better explain what I’m seeing…
I am running v6.00.00 and seems to be working as expected when I drop *.DMK files into C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Rockwell Automation\Firmware Kits. This is in a VM that is not internet-facing. Is it possible that you have some different config under Settings → Firmware Locations to where it can’t see your local files?
